I’m Joe Peterson, and I’m from the swamp.

I started my first business selling lemonade as a kid in Louisiana. I eventually built a block-empire supplying snowcones, popcorn, and, when I moved to Virginia as a teenager, cold beer.

For my entire life, I’ve been an agile, adaptable leader, and I’ve built my career supporting lean, local operations that connect people, change worlds, and showcase beauty. I’ve worked in government, at non-profits, and in the private sector, and I bring warmth and an entrepreneurial approach to the organizations I work with.

In 2026, I’m managing a small inn on Fire Island, upkeeping a boat in Rockaway Beach, coordinating events for a small restaurant, and teaching at both the New York and Brooklyn Public Libraries.

I’m also pursuing a Master of Environmental Science at Pace University. My research focuses on waste.
