I’m Joe Peterson, and I’m exploring conservation.
The world around us is fragile and balanced, and we are all changing it every day. I’m pursuing an MS in Environmental Science and Policy at Pace University, and my research is focused on alternatives to plastics.
In 2025, I joined the New York-New Jersey Trail Conference as the leader of a trail crew in Hudson Highlands State Park. My team and I built stone steps on hiking trails – including the Appalachian Trail – in an effort to prevent hillside erosion and enable safe, sustainable outdoor recreation for New York City residents and other visitors to the Hudson Valley.
